Hania

Chania, a small mountain settlement perched on one of the highest points of Pelion, is located at an altitude of 1200 m. surrounded by beech and chestnut forests. It is an idyllic settlement, with unique natural beauties, landscape variations and traditional way of life, which invites you to travel to the richness and magic of pure Greek nature. In the past it was the rest and refueling station for merchants and travelers, who found accommodation in the hania, from where the name of the village originated. Today the village has several modern guesthouses, among which the shelters of the “Hellenic Mountaineering Association” stand out. It is an ideal destination for any time of the year, an activity getaway with your family or friends and a close-to-nature experience. Overlooking the sea, the green mountains in summer and the white landscape in winter, it is ideal for creating memories that will accompany you for a lifetime.

Chania is one of the most popular villages of Pelion and in winter they have their honor, since the ski center is only 2 km away, 12 from Portaria and 27 from Volos. The operation of the ski center began in 1967 on the top of Agriolefkes Magnesia. It is the second oldest in the country and every year it attracts many visitors. There is a 5 km long endurance track and 4 tracks of 2.5 km for downhill skiing. Its 5 lifts, three aerial and two sliding, have the capacity to serve about 2,000 people per hour. For beginners, lessons are organised by experienced instructors since the ski school of the Centre is classified as European standard.

So discover Chania and give yourself the opportunity to enjoy a magnificent landscape full of plane trees, fir trees, chestnut trees and a view of the turquoise waters of Pagasitikos and the Aegean Sea.
