Afissos

Afissos is located just 25 kilometers from Volos and is a cosmopolitan resort, which has retained its picturesque character. It has a complete tourist infrastructure with restaurants, taverns, cafes and bars. In the beautiful shady square of Afissos, cool, turquoise water gushes from the spring where, according to tradition, the Argonauts were watered just before they started their long journey to Colchis and the Golden Fleece. In honour of Jason and the Argonauts, the ”Argonauts” and various other events take place throughout the summer. Afissos is built amphitheatrically between huge olive groves. The long sandy beach of Kallifteri will be found just before we enter the village, while on the other side, after passing the village, we will find Abovos with fine sand and beautiful blue waters. The beaches of Lagoudi, Razi and Agia Efthimia are also very good choices.
